IBEX Precision-Engineered Heavy Crankshaft Unlock the "factory secret" that has powered KTM’s elite riders to the top of the podium. During our time building the 2025 World Championship bike for Graham Jarvis, we saw firsthand how a heavy crank transforms a bike's behavior. Now, we’ve engineered a production version that brings this professional-grade technology to every rider. Why a Heavy Crank Beats a Flywheel Weight While bolt-on flywheel weights are a common modification, they are limited by their uniform weight distribution. A heavy crank is a fundamental engine upgrade that offers technical advantages a flywheel cannot: Optimized Balance Factor: By manufacturing the crank webs with additional mass, we can precisely adjust the balance factor. This allows us to counteract the reciprocating forces of the piston more effectively, reducing vibration and improving engine longevity. Rotational Inertia & Traction: A heavy crank increases "crank mass" rather than just "external mass." This provides a more planted feel and smoother power delivery, allowing the rear tire to find grip in the slickest, most technical conditions. Strategic Mass Placement: Unlike flywheels that add weight to the end of the shaft, a heavy crank places mass directly in the center of the engine’s rotating assembly, maintaining better gyroscopic stability and centralizing mass. Professional Results without the Price Tag Custom-modifying a stock crank to these specifications is a labor-intensive process involving tungsten inserts and precision machining—traditionally costing riders upwards of £2,500. We have eliminated the middleman. By casting and machining these cranks to be heavy from the factory, we have removed the need for expensive post-production labor. You get the exact same "Jarvis-spec" feeling and balance at a fraction of the cost of a custom build. Technical Specifications Direct Replacement: Precision-fit for KTM 250 and 300 TPI and TBI engines. Engineered Inertia: Designed to improve low-end torque and prevent stalling in extreme terrain And give the best and smoothest power delivery the same as the KTM factory team uses. Balanced Performance: Dynamically balanced to reduce engine stress and rider fatigue.
